The Turn

After the Flop you should only continue Betting

with a Good Hand or Good Draw

While playing online Texas Holdem poker, one of the decisions you have to make, is whether to carry on paying or fold after you see the flop. It is believed that the flop defines your hand. After the flop you have observed 5 cards out of 7 of the final hand cards. By this time you should have sufficient information to decide intelligently Whether to Keep Investing, or Get Out

In general, after the flop, you should only continue to bet or call if either you have at least a good pair or a good draw.

What is a good Pair?

A good pair is when there are not two higher cards displaying on board (the community cards). Most of the time in the relatively loose atmoshpere of online poker you should have at least the second best pair showing on the board to go on. Chances are, if you have a pair of fours in your hand and there is a seven and a jack showing, you are already beat. The chances of you hitting your third four are too slim to carry on.

While in online Texas hold’em poker a good draw would be when you have (i) four to a flush, or (ii) four to a straight, or (iii) three to a straight or flush and a pair or two over cards or, (iv) two very good over cards (for example AK or AQ). If your hand after does not guarantee at least these conditions in an online Texas hold’em poker game do not call or bet. Save your money by getting out of the hand in time.

In online Texas hold’em poker this may appear to be very simple methodology but there are other thoughts you must keep in mind even if you have a drawing hand. You have to interpret the board closely after the flop in online Texas hold’em poker. A lot of players in low limit games will play any two suited cards in online Texas hold’em poker. If the flop shows two cards of the same suit in an online Texas hold’em poker game, there is a good possibility one of the other players could be on a flush draw. You could be a loser making your straight when a player hits a flush draw!

In online Texas hold’em poker, players in low limit games are also fond of playing any ace in spite of of the kicker with it. That’s why you have to be very cautious when you see an Ace flop. If you are having a small or medium pair and there is a bet and raise with an ace on board you should fold in online Texas hold’em poker. If you made an entry into the pot with a small pair in late position you should fold if you are unable to formulate a set on the flop while playing online Texas hold’em poker.

Gaining knowledge of being able to identify the value of the board is an important skill in online Texas hold’em poker. You will have to widen this skill even when you pursue the fit or fold technique for playing your hand in an online Texas hold’em poker game.

In online Texas hold’em poker, at times a flop will fit in your hands but you can still be a loser if one of your opponents has flopped a stronger hand. Therefore, no matter how good your first two cards may appear to be in online Texas hold’em poker , an adverse flop can make them almost valueless. A key notion in online Texas hold’em poker is that the flop must fit your hand. While playing an online Texas hold’em poker game, if the flop doesn't make your hand stronger or propose a draw to a very strong hand, you almost certainly should let it go.
